Jaroslav Čejka: Traces. Photogallery from the book launch evening

The launch of Jaromír Čejka's book of photographs: Tracks from the KANT Publishing House was attended by a large number of people, accompanied by loud songs and a sold-out title that had just been christened. The author of the photos is Apolena Typltová.

Jaromír Čejka's monograph entitled Footprints is a repayment of the debt to an important Czech photographer, who is known to the cultural community primarily as the author of the South City photography project. However, the scope of Jaromír Čejka's work is much wider, and the monograph should present this breadth to the readers at least in these presented outlines. His compositions are not only an interpretation of reality, as they are also the result of the reception of artistically authoritative photographs and a unique grasp of everything to which the author imprinted the form of traces of reality.

Jaromír Čejka (born April 15, 1947 in Miroslava) graduated from the Electrical Engineering College (1966). After graduation, he alternated between different professions (driver, lighting engineer, camera assistant, photographer). He graduated from the Institute of Fine Art Photography at the SČF in Brno (1971–1974). He then studied photography at FAMU in Prague (1976–1983, diploma thesis on Pavel Altschul and Světozor in 1933–1939). He has been self-employed since 1983. He collaborated with the Art Center (documentation of the works of Studio Shape) and after 1990 with the press (Lidové noviny, Fórum, Prítomnost, Prostor, Zdravotnické noviny, Architekt, Respekt, Literární noviny). He photographically documented rural villages for spatial planning studies (collaboration with Bohuslav Blažek and architect Ivan Plicka). After 2000, he collaborated with ČTK and Studio JB in Lomnice nad Popelkou. In the years 2013–2016, he took photographic documentation for the project of the Museum of Applied Arts in Prague "Panel Housing in the Czech Republic".
