The Glass School in Železný Brod, North Bohemia is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. On this occasion, in collaboration with UPM, she prepared a monograph full of vivid colors, shapes and glass fantasy. The current work of students meets important works from the beginnings of the school, which were designed by teachers Alois Metelák, Jaroslav Brychta, Oldřich Žák, Ladislav prenosil, Zdeněk Juna and others. The diverse collection of vases, bowls, figurines, jewelery and objects made by almost all glass technologies combines perfect craftsmanship with artistic invention. The publication illustrates the journey of the school and thus of modern Czech glass behind world fame, from art deca to the latest trends in the artistic conception of noble material. It also proves that the future of Czech glassmaking as a family silver lies not only in maintaining the tradition, but especially in the further development of an internationally unique system of vocational education.
