Dětem na míru

This publication focuses on the design of furniture, toys and applied graphics for pre-school and school-age children in socialist Czechoslovakia. In addition to mass-produced toys and books that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and can still be found in many homes today, the authors of the individual studies look at pieces that remained at the design and prototype stage. As in many other areas of contemporary production, in children's design many things were invented or experimented with, but usually never went into production. Leaving aside the 'retro' phenomenon, the book focuses on innovative conceptual, artistic and material solutions. The medallions present two dozen Czech and Slovak authors who have worked for children, taking into account their specific needs. The book is a follow-up to the exhibition of the same name, which is being held at the Slovak National Museum in Bratislava until the beginning of June 2024 (30 November 2023 - 2 June 2024) and has already been prepared by UPM curator Lucie Skřivánková.
