The Devil's Kitchen is a plastic literary map of the town of Jičín and its surroundings; a mosaic of the landscape as cut from a dream, composed of known and unknown stories and narratives from the 17th to the 20th century. On its website - also thanks to the generous help of translators from German and Latin, Vlasta and Hubert Reitterer - the Baroque Jesuit Bohuslav Balbín, the “collaborating hellhound” Josef Váchal, the Czech Renaissance poet Šimon Lomnický from Budče, the renowned amateur historian Franz Alexander Heber and the leading teacher Bílek from Jičíněves. Together with a sewn binding, accompanied by special linocuts by Bára Krautz, they have a conversation together. At times silent, mumbling, at times loud again like a ship's siren…
