There are more than three hundred wooden and semi-wooden churches, chapels and bell towers in the Czech Republic. Their age ranges from the 15th century to the present. The rarest and oldest wooden church is located in Broumov in the Náchod region. Compared to Germany, Poland, Ukraine and Sweden, however, there are relatively few of them and even today there are not many of these buildings. However, according to architect Karel Kuča, their history is not a closed chapter. He has published a new book on wooden sacral buildings called Wooden and Semi-Wooden Churches, Chapels and Bell Towers (Guide), which is the first to map this non-traditional architecture.
