- František Skála, A Ship Eater from The Giants cycle, 2014
In 2013–2014, František Skála created a graphic cycle in the spirit of symbolist tradition, thematically connected with the giant motif, as a personification of the invincible force of nature. They are in a true Skála style full of forest gorges with dead trunks and snails, nostalgic landscapes, natural formations reminiscent of sitting figures, monsters rising from the sea and other fantastic motifs that pass through a cycle of sixteen graphic sheets, in which the human figure serves to depict the insignificance of man to nature and its whims. The Giants cycle is one of the top works of contemporary Czech authorial graphics.
