Hella Hammid - Feminne fate
The publication presents the work of the American photographer Helly Hammid (1921 - 1992) from 1960–1980.
The publication presents a topic that Helle Hammid was more than her own - capturing the female world, with everything it entails: motherhood, emancipation, illness, old age ... In black and white films, a woman appears as a girl and a femme fatale, as a partner and mother , in the role of bearer of life, sinner and old wise woman. Documentary photographs of children are a logical continuation of these topics.
Influenced by the reporting style of the Magnum photo agency, Hella Hammid created the series Roman Children in 1950. The film from this cycle was exhibited in 1955 at the legendary Family of Man exhibition. She continued to photograph children for the American picture magazine Life, for which she created, among other things, a report from the Rainbow House or the progressive school in New Lincoln.
The images express a deep understanding of the world of the youngest and a love for them. Hella Hammid is connected with the Czech environment thanks to her marriage to Alexander Hammid.
