Italian features
Italy is the cradle of many, the Renaissance for example, but mainly the muses, which is fully confirmed by this exceptional publication. It has become a source of endless inspiration to its authors, Jiří Přibáň and Jakub Špaňhel. They travel through the Italian landscape, cities, buildings and art with unbridled enthusiasm, and thanks to them, their reader. In his texts, Přibáň captured immediate impressions and experiences of specific places as well as encounters with people, but at the same time he writes about what each such place transcends and creates universal traces in history and the present, be it art, architecture, philosophy, historical figures or their actions. And such are the paintings of one of the most original contemporary visual artists, Jakub Špaňhel. At first glance, we are almost certain that we know the depicted place, but with a second glance, we turn to our inner self to find out that the scene has opened up space for our own imagination about places, about the world, about ourselves. The mutual dialogue of content-rich, stylistically brilliant texts by Jiří Přibán and magically atmospheric paintings by Jakub Špaňhel brings a completely rare experience.
