This unique cross-section of Stefan Milkov's work from the 1980s to the present day introduces the reader to his sculptures and large-scale abstract paintings, which he has been working on intensively for the past ten years. The book is a continuation of the exhibition of the same name at DOX. But the publication also includes some extras: an extensive interview between the artist and curator Leoš Válka, in which Stefan Milkov reveals his artistic training, family roots, cultural influences, talks about his studies during the totalitarian era, and reflects on more general themes such as commitment, the relationship between art and the market, and the development of artificial intelligence. A profound reflection on the artist's work is provided by an essay by the sculptor and former artistic colleague Jaroslav Róna, who, together with Milkov, was at the beginning of the artistic group Tvrdohlaví (1987-2001). The book reflects on Milkov's artistic development and the different positions of his work, from his work with mythical symbols and biblical stories to his interest in technological elegance with reference to the machine age.
