The catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition of Miquel Barceló (b. 1957, Felanitx, Mallorca), a Spanish artist belonging to a distinctive generation of artists who first gained international attention in the 1980s and 1990s and which also includes other painters who are very well known today, such as Juan Uslé, as well as sculptors like Juan Muñoz and Cristina Iglesias.
The exhibition and accompanying book, Miquel Barceló and the Worlds of Words, mark the artist’s first presentation in the Czech Republic, focusing on his long-standing and intense relationship with literature. This relationship has inspired many of Barceló’s works across various periods of his highly successful artistic career, spanning more than four decades.
