Obrazy těla

The publication is based on a dissertation carried out under the supervision of doc. Lady Hubatová-Vacková and defended at the Department of Theory and History of Art, UMPRUM in 2019. The central theme of the project is the transformation of visual motifs and symbols of mass physical education performances from the 1860s to 1989. The structure of the text is based on the assumption that visual motifs and symbols they migrate and that their meaning changes based on a particular social and cultural context. The transformation of the visual representation of physical culture is analyzed through specific visual and performative signs in the representation of Sokol, workers' physical education units, proletarian physical education federation and Czechoslovak national Spartakiads.
