Pavel Šmíd / Rituals

The publication maps the work of painter, graphic artist and scenographer Pavel Šmíd, a native of Krnov. From his artistic beginnings, he was interested in unorthodox conceptions of art outside the official mainstream, and this led him to the personalities forming the group Prirození (1989-1992). The curator Renata Skřebská, who is the author of this publication, has been involved in the group's activities in the past. This is the first comprehensive presentation of the artist's work to date. Important aspects that give the publication a dimension of authenticity are the personal observations and glosses of the otherwise rather inward-looking Pavel Šmíd, which were made during interviews with the curator. For the first time, an inventory catalogue of his works mapping his oeuvre between 1995 and 2023 is published, accompanied by reproductions. Biographical data, participation in exhibitions and a rich pictorial appendix are included. The texts are in Czech-English version. The graphic design by Katarína Jamrišková is also extremely successful.
