Monograph of Luboš Plný offers a comprehensive view of the work of an artist whose work oscillates between art brut, scientific record and conceptual art. Here, drawing, collage and bodily experience form a distinctive language through which Plný records the human body and his own existence.

The monograph devoted to the work of Luboš Plný (*1961), a prominent figure of contemporary Czech art, presents a comprehensive view of his exceptional work oscillating between art brut, conceptual art and scientific record. An autodidact and performer, Plný explores the human body in all its fragility and brutality - through detailed cartoon "anatomical self-portraits", documentation of bodily interventions and text-visual diary entries.

The book was created through successive conversations over the artist's individual art cycles. From the beginning, we tried for a chronological order of the works. This was not always consistently possible to maintain. The individual conversations revealed other contexts than just temporal ones. In some cases, we preferred a thematic order, where individual works are linked by a theme or life circumstances.

The book is published in a limited edition of 300 numbered copies. The first 20 copies are signed by the author and include an original print of the author's collage.

The monograph will be available for the first time at the opening of Luboš Plný's drawings and collages on Wednesday 11 June 2025.
