Starou Prahou Václava Jansy

Narrative publication of comparative picture pairs, where the starting point is a series of legendary watercolors by Václav Jansa mainly from the nineties of the 18th century and the current state of photographs of the same places a hundred years later. The publication presents both watercolors that have been known so far, as well as watercolors that have been more or less hidden from the public, known only from occasional exhibitions or random publications. Their confrontation of the sensitive capture of the painter with the work of our contemporary, who captured the same places with a photographic camera, increases the comprehensibility and attractiveness of the presented works. It is precisely the comparison of the painter's work with photographs that reveals not only the extent of the city's architectural and construction changes, but also the change in the lifestyle and pace of its inhabitants.
