Steven Holl: Making Architecture
The first Czech-English monograph by internationally acclaimed American architect Steven Holl was published to accompany the world tour of his touring exhibition Making Architecture. How to "make architecture" according to Steven Holl can be learned from a number of texts by various authors (Nina Stritzler-Levine, Kerry Dean Carso, Peter Olshavsky, Rostislav Švácha, Juhani Pallasmaa and others), but also from an interview recorded by Petr Šmídek on the occasion of the architect's recent visits to the Czech Republic. In addition to Holl's major projects from earlier times, the book also introduces us to projects from his most recent creative period, including the design of a new concert hall for Ostrava and the transformation of the entrance to the Ghetto Museum in Terezín. The book is lavishly illustrated with photographs from Holl's building projects, as well as his widely renowned conceptual watercolours.
