Lawrence Wells (born 1965) is an American painter living permanently in the Czech Republic. He studied painting at Indiana University and received his MFA from the University of Mississippi (1992). Wells was one of the first wave of American expats in Prague in the 1990s. He returned to the U.S. in 1993 and after eight years in New Orleans and New York, he has lived back in Prague since 2001. Between 2007 and 2008 he was a resident at Meet Factory. Recent realizations (2018) include the site-specific project The End of the Party, curated by Jan Freiberg. He works in his studio in Pragovka in Vysočany and has exhibited in Europe and the USA.
