Spring's hopes after the release of tension brought blue, and during the summer, even with a little greenery, she created images of sea or heavenly landscapes where beings like to rest. On the contrary, when the danger returned in the autumn, I let the beings go through suffering and a certain rebirth to the new, in the direction of the planets and in the astral fire. Both blue and red follow my previous period, but the density and use of colors evoke a different atmosphere. Jan Hísek

The book includes the latest paintings by Jan Hísek (1965), one of the most distinctive painters and graphic artists of the middle generation. The author of the main text, Radek Wohlmuth, truthfully summed up their nature as follows: With her, of course, fears and insecurities, including thoughts of the fragility, vulnerability, finiteness, and transience of human existence, also arose in an unprecedented intensity. ”Impressive canvases do not leave us alone, even if they seem to lead to peaceful contemplation. There are few authors that we can write with full weight that they portray the author himself without being descriptive. The book is complemented by stylized portraits of Jan Hísek by Václav Jirásek, a member of the now defunct art group Bratrstvo.

The book is bilingual, Czech-English.
