Otakar Matušek: Duše vidí jizvami

Despite his struggles with his mental problems, Otakar Matušek (1953-2022) created unique literary and photographic works that we thought it desirable to bring out of oblivion. He began taking photographs at the age of eleven, more deeply in 1974. He had been on full disability retirement since the age of twenty-one. In the first half of the 1980s he studied photography at the Conservatory in Ostrava.
The final form of the book is a reflection of how we knew Ota Matušek's work from Ostrava's openings and cafés. He was always ready to talk to someone and open his works in albums or boxes. They were small photographs and miniatures without titles and out of time, with no claims to a definitive arrangement.
