Rudolf Dzurko was born in 1941 in Pavlovice, Eastern Slovakia. In 1945 his family relocated to Northern Bohemia. There he worked as a bricklayer, boiler man and a workman in glassworks where he began to experiment with glass detritus. He invented and still continues to improve a technique for sticking glass onto a glass plate and he creates embossed pictures from glass detritus. In 1980s he moved to Prague. He was on partially invalid pension and made original wooden jewels which he sold at the Charles Bridge. Another important part of his work is wood engraving. His works are featured in a number of art collections including those of the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava and the National Gallery in Prague. This is his first representative Czech-German monograph.
